Vision Proofread
Vision Proofread checks your translation on the rendered page, catching what only shows up once it is laid out: a heading that overflows, a CTA that lost its emphasis, text that no longer fits its frame. It looks at the page the way a reader would.
When should I use Vision Proofread instead of Smart Proofread?
Vision Proofread is for documents where layout matters as much as wording: HTML (full-body emails and pages) and Word documents with real layout (tables, images, text boxes, columns). It uses the model’s native vision to review the rendered result and flag visual or layout issues alongside the usual language checks.
Proofread with Vision is offered only on these documents. A Word file of plain prose gets Smart Proofread instead.
Like Smart Proofread, it applies its fixes inline as they land, with progress shown in a toast. When it finishes, Review changes on the toast lets you keep or revert each block it changed. For plain-prose documents, Smart Proofread is the tool you want. If you switch vision on for one anyway, Transept skips it and runs the text proofread at the text rate, so you never pay the vision read fee for a page of paragraphs.
Can I run Vision Proofread on a Word document or a PDF?
On a Word document, yes, when it has real layout to look at: tables, images, text boxes, or columns. A Word file that is plain prose (a novel, a report of paragraphs and headings) has nothing a page image can add, so Transept skips vision on it automatically and runs the text proofread at the normal rate; the run dialog tells you when that happens. PDF, Markdown, and plain-text documents always use Smart Proofread, which runs the same language checks without the visual layer.
How much does Vision Proofread cost?
A read fee of 0.5 credits per source word the scan reads (the page images make the read heavier than the 0.2 of a text proofread), plus the normal mode rate on the blocks it actually fixes: one credit per source word in Fast or Standard, three in Pro. Blocks it leaves alone cost only the read fee. The run dialog shows this as a range: the read fee is the guaranteed part, the fixes are the ceiling.
Do I still need to run Smart Proofread after a Vision Proofread?
No. Vision Proofread runs the usual language checks alongside the visual ones — it is the same fix flow as Smart Proofread with visual evidence added, so one pass covers both.
How do I undo a change Vision Proofread made?
Open Review changes from the toast when the run finishes, or its row under pending reviews, and press Revert to previous on that block; Revert all undoes every change at once. Each earlier version also stays in the block’s version history.
