Roles & permissions
Sharing in Transept isn’t all-or-nothing. Team membership gives one level of access; sharing an individual resource gives another, with four levels to choose from.
Team roles
A team has two roles. The owner manages the shared word pool (set up, add/remove, or cancel seats), team settings, member removal and ownership transfer, can move resources in and out of the team, and can set and enforce a team translation-memory policy. Members can open and edit every team-owned document, glossary, and styleguide, and can invite others (inviting is free) — but can’t buy seats, change settings, remove members, or move a resource out from under the team, and on team documents with an enforced memory policy they can toggle memory on or off but can’t change its search or AI-context settings. Creating a team and inviting people is free on every plan.
Four access levels
Share a single document, glossary, or styleguide with a specific person or a whole team at one of four levels:
- View — read only.
- Comment — view and leave comments, no edits.
- Edit — view, comment, and edit the content.
- Admin — everything, including re-sharing and changing other people’s access.
How access is decided
The strongest applicable level wins. The resource owner and the owning team’s owner always have Admin. Team members get Edit on their team’s resources automatically. On top of that, a resource can be shared directly with a specific person or another team — handy for giving one reviewer comment access without adding them to the team.
Outside reviewers
For people who shouldn’t see your workspace at all, use a review link instead of a share: a view-only or comment-only link a guest opens without an account, scoped to that one document and expiring after 30 days. See client & guest review links.
